What is pity in Honkai: Star Rail?

Pity is a hidden counter that guarantees you a 5★ after a certain number of pulls. Every pull on a Character Event Warp banner without a 5★ increases your chances. The counter resets to zero the moment you pull a 5★.

The base rate

Every pull has a 0.6% base chance of dropping a 5★. That's the flat rate from pull 1 up to the soft pity threshold.

Soft pity starts at pull 74

From pull 74 onward, your chance rises by +6% per pull each pull. This is why most 5★ characters drop in the 74-90 range — the odds climb fast and the curve is steep.

Hard pity at 90

Pull 90 is a guaranteed 5★ — a 100% rate. You can never go past 90 pulls without a 5★ on a Character Event Warp banner.

The 50/50 guarantee

When you pull a 5★, there's a 50% chance it's the featured character. If you lose the 50/50, your next 5★ is guaranteed to be the featured one — this guarantee carries over between banners of the same type.
